• Room photographs — images you upload for AI analysis
• Shopping list selections — products you add to your cart

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Usage data — pages visited, features used, time on site
• Device information — browser type, operating system, screen size
• IP address — collected automatically by our hosting provider (Vercel)

2. How We Use Your Information

• To generate personalised home improvement recommendations based on your photos and preferences
• To send you a copy of your report if you request it via email
• To save your analysis results locally on your device for your convenience
• To improve and optimise our Service
• To monitor and prevent abuse of our API

3. How Your Photos Are Processed

This is an important section. Here is exactly what happens when you upload room photos:

1. Compression — Photos are compressed on your device (client-side) before being transmitted. We reduce resolution and file size to minimise data transfer.
2. Transmission — Compressed images are sent via HTTPS to our serverless function hosted on Vercel.
3. AI Analysis — Our server sends your images to Google’s Gemini AI API for visual analysis. Google processes the images to identify room features, materials and conditions.
4. No Permanent Storage — We do not permanently store your photos on our servers. Images exist in memory only during the analysis request and are discarded immediately after.
5. Google’s Processing — Google processes your images in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy and Gemini API Terms of Service.

4. Local Storage (Your Device)

We use your browser’s localStorage to save certain data on your device only:

• Shopping cart — products you’ve added to your list (persists until you clear it)
• Saved report — your analysis results for quick resumption (expires after 24 hours)
• Email address — if you use the email report feature (for your convenience)

This data is not transmitted to our servers. It stays on your device. You can clear it at any time:

• Use the “Clear” button in the shopping cart, or
• Clear your browser’s site data via browser settings

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

When you click a retailer link, you leave our site and are subject to that retailer’s own privacy policy and terms.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information:

• HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
• CORS restrictions on our API to prevent unauthorised access
• Rate limiting (10 requests per minute per IP) to prevent abuse
• Request size validation (max 15MB) to prevent overload
• No persistent server-side storage of personal data or images

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights Under the Australian Privacy Act

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), you have the right to:

• Access personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Withdraw consent for processing at any time
• Complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we have breached the APPs
